ROCHESTER, Minnesota (WXOW) - The regular trout fishing season has opened in southeastern Minnesota.
Saturday was the season opener.
While it has been legal to fish for trout in some streams since Jan. 1, any trout caught during the early season must be released. But now anglers can keep any trout they can catch.
There are special regulations for some of the waterways. Information on trout fishing in southeastern Minnesota can be found here. There are also maps showing trout streams, "how to" sections, and information on trout management in Minnesota.
The regular season continues through Sept. 14 when a short catch & release season begins.
