Mayo Clinic Health System honors volunteers

LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW)—Mayo Clinic Health System thanked more than 150 volunteers with a luncheon at Radisson Center on Monday.

Marjorie Bushek, volunteer, said the appreciation luncheon is something they all look forward to every year.

Bushek was recognized for volunteering, doing clerical work and in the gift shop, more than 17,000 hours at Mayo since 1986.

"I volunteer because I like being with people," Bushek said.

She said she is a widow and volunteering gives her something to do so she doesn't have to spend as much of her time alone.

"It's good to have something to do when you get up in the morning," Bushek said. "Something to complete your day and its good to feel tired at night after a days work."
