Prostitution charges coming against five

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - Four La Crosse women and one from Eau Claire are due in court Tuesday to face prostitution charges. 

     Police arrested all five last Thursday during a sting operation at a local motel.

      The women are 24 year old Amanda Lejeune, 32 year old Erin Oliver both of La Crosse and  21 year old Tia Johnson of Eau Claire.  The other two are 29 year old Rosheda Basley and 44 year old Sheree McElroy, also of La Crosse.

     Captain Jason Melby says the women advertised escort services on the Internet.  Undercover officers contacted the women. Police say the women agreed to exchange money for sexual activity in violation of the law.

    The women also face charges for not having an escort license.

     Melby says the new law establishing a $1,100 fine for failure to have an escort license makes it easier for them to prosecute these kinds of crimes.
