Nearly a dozen more applications turned in to mine frac sand in Buffalo County

Buffalo County (WQOW) - An area county remains a hot-bed of activity when it comes to plans to mine frac sand.

Buffalo County has recently received eleven more applications for sand mining operations.

The proposed projects would cover more than 2,700 acres.  The proposed mines would be in the towns of Milton, Montana and Mondovi. The county board chair says all of the applications were received before the new mining moratorium went into effect.

The county's zoning board will consider the applications at a meeting may ninth.  That meeting has been moved to the Cochrane-Fountain City school in anticipation of a large crowd.
