La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - The UW Madison is ending its nursing education program with Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse.
The Dean of the UW School of Nursing says the decision comes as the school looks to consolidate its nursing school on the Madison campus. For the past 7 years juniors and seniors in the UW Nursing program could choose to complete their degree requirements in Western Wisconsin.
The program had proven successful in bringing new nursing graduates to Gundersen Lutheran and will continue to work with local colleges in producing enough nurses to meet the growing need for health care professionals.
The UW Nursing School will continue to partner with Gundersen Lutheran, but it will shift toward research activities and encouraging nurses to advance their education.
