Central wins baseball "City Game"

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - Something had to give. Both Central and Logan baseball had not yet lost a game to a Mississippi Valley Conference opponent, and both had overall winning percentages of .500 or better.

The Red Raiders made the short trip north Monday night to Logan High School for the conference clash. They went scoreless into the 4th when, with two baserunners, Ben Faga doubled to the gap in right-center. That plated both runs and put Central on top.

Carson Hackett would add to the Red Raiders' lead with an RBI single to left, bringing Alex Beinborn to the plate. A good 4th inning for Central saw them jump out in front 4-0.

Logan responded in their half of the frame. Ryan Schreiner scored Jonah Waite on a single into left, as the Rangers cut the deficit down to two.

Central proved just too tough defensively after that. The Red Raiders added another run and hung on to win by a 5-2 final. They slide into a tie with Holmen for first at 3-0 in the MVC.

Other MVC Scores

Onalaska - 2
Aquinas - 5

Tomah - 3
Sparta - 5
