GAB asks Waukesha Co. to file election results electronically

MADISON (WKOW) -- The state Government Accountability Board wants Waukesha County's municipal clerks to file election night results electronically.

The request comes after the GAB says the county had long delays in reporting results of the April 3 spring election.

State law doesn't require electronic reporting of unofficial returns, but the GAB is encouraging counties to do so. County clerks are still required to deliver official results to the courthouse by 4 p.m. the next day.

Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus will not oversee the upcoming recall elections. Nickolaus' duties will performed by the deputy clerk.
