LA CRESCENT, Minnesota (WXOW) - The middle school principal in La Crescent has a new job.

After 7 years in the La Crescent School District, Ben Barton will become Caledonia's new Superintendent and Elementary School Principal.

Barton has 10 years of academic administrative experience.

Before coming to La Crescent, he was a principal in northeastern Minnesota.

Barton says he is thankful for the time he has spent with the La Crescent community.

Leaving, he says, is a bittersweet experience.

During an interview April 24, Barton said, "I'm a little sad, to be honest.  I'm sad to leave La Crescent, but so excited to be able to have that chance to make a difference in Caledonia. La Crescent's been very good to me, and I consider La Crescent to be one of the top districts in the state."

Barton will start work at his new post July 1st.
