La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - A guilty plea today for a La Crosse woman accused of hiding the body of a man who died of a drug overdose last summer.
36-year-old Christina Lorenz is one of four people charged in connection with disposing of the body of Anthony DuCharme in Red Cloud park in August.
Prosecutors say they hid the body in an attempt to avoid facing charges for causing the DuCharme's death.
Tuesday, Lorenz plead guilty to a count of 'Party to the crime of second degree reckless homicide.'
Under the agreement, five other charges were dropped including drug possession, theft, bail jumping, and the other count related to this case, hiding a corpse, but the court will take the dropped charges into consideration when sentencing Lorenz.
"I obtained illegal dangerous drugs with my friends and got high. It resulted in my friend Tony DuCharme's death. I feel terrible about it but he did in fact die from the drugs we used," said Lorenz.
Lorenz will face a maximum sentence of 25-years in prison and fines no greater than $100,000, but the state has agreed to ask for no more than eight years.
Lorenz's sentence hearing is scheduled for June 4th at 2 PM.
