BANGOR, WI (WXOW)-- Eighth grade students in the leadership program at Bangor Middle School have worked all school year raising money for local organizations.
They raised $2,000, more an any other school fundraiser ever has, for the Freedom Honor Flight, enough money to send four Bangor veterans on the flight.
The flight brings veterans to Washington D.C. to see the war memorials created in their honor.
Aden Erickson, Eighth Grade Leadership student, said they started fundraisers at their school where people could pay $1 to wear a hat or crazy socks to school for a day.
He said he's learned lessons like the importance of helping people through the program.
"It's important to help raise money for good causes-so you know you did a good deed," Erickson said.
The students also raised money for the American Cancer Society and Sunshine on the Trail.
