WHITEWATER, Wisconsin (WXOW) - In less than two weeks, Wisconsin voters will head to the polls for the recall primary. The candidates met at a forum at UW-Whitewater last night.
All four candidates, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, Wisconsin Secretary of State Doug La Follette and State Senator Kathleen Vinehout spoke to a crowd of about 300. They hit the major hot topics -- collective bargaining, education and Scott Walker himself, they also all talked about jobs.
Tom Barrett says, "I have never been able to find a single year in the history of this state where Wisconsin was the state that lost the most jobs."
Kathleen Vinehout said, "Everywhere I go, I hear businesses tell me the biggest single barrier to job creation for small businesses is the rising cost of health insurance."
Kathleen Falk says, "The number of people who need a good paying job, that's what's at stake here."
"I know from studies that there are thousands of students trying to get into technical schools to become nurses, welders or tech specialists and there are thousands of jobs not being filled," says Doug La Follette.
The primary election is set for May 8th.
