Sparta Police investigating several burglaries

Sparta, WI (WXOW) - The Sparta Police Department is looking for three teens involved with several burglaries in that area.

Police say around 11 o'clock Wednesday night, a Sparta resident reported she was in bed and saw a light coming down the hallway of her home on 635 South K Street.

She yelled out at the intruders and the suspects fled the home.

Moment later, police say they received another call about a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of Martin Warehousing at 716 South Black River Street.

The owner of the stolen car saw his truck leaving the parking lot and followed it for a short distance before it was abandoned.

He told police he saw three suspects, in their late teens, flee the scene on foot.

One of the suspects was wearing jeans and a stripped white shirt.

Sparta Police and the Tomah Police K-9 units searched the area, but they did not find the suspects.

Officers believe the burglary and the motor vehicle thefts are related.

Sparta Police are also investigating two separate residential burglaries that took place during the day on Tuesday, in the 1900 block of Julie Avenue.

In both burglaries, the suspects entered the home by cutting a window screen and going through an unlocked window.  Police say cash and the house keys were taken.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call the Sparta Police Department at 608-269-3122 or Monroe County Crime Stoppers at 608-269-7867.
