Record Numbers For Medication Drop-Off

Posted:

LA CROSSE,WI(WXOW)-- There was plenty of traffic at the four sites around La Crosse County collecting old and unused medications this past Saturday.

The numbers tell the story-890 cars came through the locations.  The people in those cars disposed of more than 1,400 pounds of medication.

Volunteers helped collect the expired or un-needed prescription and over-the-counter medications at Viterbo University, Onalaska Police Department, CESA 4 in West Salem, and the County's HHM facility by the landfill.

According to Onalaska Police Officer Jasson Jobe, the event was a record setting one.  The 1,400 pounds of medications gathered Saturday eclipsed last November's drop-off total of 1,279 pounds.
