TAYLOR COUNTY, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A Taylor County man is behind bars Tuesday (5/1) morning accused of plotting to kill several authorities with a bomb. Investigators say 22-year old Patrick Staton was assembling IEDs hoping to kill a Taylor County Judge, District Attorney, and detective. The Taylor County Sheriff says Staton planned to set off the bomb in the courthouse.
Late last week authorities found bomb-making materials and drug paraphernalia in Staton's home.
Bruce Daniels, Taylor Co. Sheriff says, "It's a reason for great concern when our public officials are singled out simply for doing their job."
Authorities say they don't believe anyone else is involved. Staton is in jail on a $25,000 bond. The district attorney plans to charge Staton soon.
