Man charged with taking hostage, high speed chase

Eau Claire (WQOW) - The man accused of leading western Wisconsin officers on a high-speed chase and taking a hostage had allegedly been smoking methamphetamine.

Charges have now been filed in Dunn County against Jonlee Goers. He faces five felonies including armed robbery, car-jacking and false imprisonment.

Investigators say during last week's chase Goers asked a rural Wheeler resident if he could use the bathroom. He then allegedly pulled a knife and ordered the man to drive him to Minneapolis. He says during the drive, Goers said he had been smoking meth all day.

The man says Goers also offered him a can of beer from a 12-pack he brought along. The man eventually escaped from the car in Saint Croix County. Goers was caught a short time later.
