
LA CROSSE,WI(WXOW)--Health professionals, law enforcement, and the public got together in La Crosse on Thursday to talk about ways to protect children in our community.
Its the 15th Annual National Conference on Child Maltreatment. Experts on child protection touch on a wide range of topics from child death investigations, to custody cases.
Pediatric Social Worker, Phillip Nielsen said we all have a stake in protecting children.
"As community members we can make a difference and if we learn about how to collaborate, how to share information, we can engage in not only education to prevent child abuse, but also to intervene effectively," said Nielsen.
Nielsen said the conference has a reputation for quality and most people come back each year.
