Menomonie, WISCONSIN (WXOW) It could be a career-making weekend for Tomah graduate Tyler Butzler at next weekend's Packer Rookie Orientation Camp.
Butzler received a tryout invitation from Green Bay this week.
The UW-Stout offensive tackle projects as a guard in the NFL.
Butzler grew up a Packers fan, so getting a chance to make the roster is a huge thrill.
Butzler's goal is to make the practice squad and go from there.
"When I get down there I'll learn a lot more, I really don't know a lot about who I might be going against, I've heard from a couple of the coaches here that I'll have a pretty good opportunity at making the practice squad. At the end of my junior year the Vikings came here on campus, did a miniature pro day, ran a 40, did all the testing, took a Wonderlic test, I think after that point in time I realize that I might have a shot to play," Butzler said.
Butzler's been working out in the Twin Cities with former UW-Stout football player Ryan Englebert, who signed a contract with the Bengals back in 2006.
