Stalsberg shuts down West Salem

West Salem, WISCONSIN (WXOW)  Mitch Stalsberg shut down the West Salem offense and led Viroqua to a 1-0 win over the Panthers in  a battle for first place in the Coulee Conference Friday.

Stalsberg gave up just one run and struck out 9 while walking 5 while picking up the complete game win.

Lucas Schultz was nearly as good for West Salem.

Schultz gave up just two hits and struck out 5 in 7 innings.

With the win, Viroqua stays in first place by themselves with an 8-2 record in the Coulee, 12-2 overall.

The Blackhawks, by the way, are ranked 10th in the state in the latest division 2 state poll.

West Salem falls to 6-3 in the Coulee and 8-6 overall.
