Ferry connecting Wisconsin and Michigan running for season

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- The Lake Express ferry that connects Wisconsin and Michigan by water is up and running for the season.

The high speed ferry started Friday and will run through October. It makes two to three trips daily between Milwaukee and Muskegon, Mich. This is the ninth season it's been running.

The ferry can reach speeds up to 40 miles per hour. It has four engines to produce a total horsepower of 12,000. It makes a one-way trip in 2.5 hours.
