Snap Fitness earns national awards

LA CRESCENT, Minnesota (WXOW) - Two local gyms are national award winners.

Snap Fitness in both La Crescent and La Crosse recently concluded their $10,000 Weight Loss Challenge.

The nation-wide challenge focused on weight loss through consistent exercise and proper diets over an 8-week period.

La Crescent's gym won first place out of 800 clubs for the highest number of members who finished the program--186 of them--and second place for highest percentage of participating club members.

La Crosse's gym in the Village Shopping Center earned fourth place for the highest number of participants.

La Crescent gym owner Dan Kohls said, "Winning this award was a really big deal for this club. Our manager engaged a lot of people over here to get involved with her club, to come on in, change their life."

Kohls also said the area's success was likely influenced by the prizes they promoted, including a 32" flatscreen TV for the person who lost the highest percentage of body fat.

Participants in the nationwide challenge lost a combined total of almost 60,000 pounds.
