EAU CLAIRE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The latest Wisconsin deer to test positive for Chronic Wasting Disease did not come from an area where that disease had already been discovered. The infected deer was found near Shell Lake last fall, marking the first time CWD had appeared in Northwestern Wisconsin. The DNR says tests show the three-year-old doe was linked genetically to other deer in the Shell Lake area.
That means this is a new case and it is separate from those reported Southern Wisconsin.
