Patient arrested after starting fire at Eau Claire hospital

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A patient at a local hospital is arrested after starting a fire in an exam room.

Eau Claire police say Robert S. Hawke was at Mayo Clinic Health System's Emergency Room Wednesday night, when he became upset with staff members. Hawke allegedly then lit a blanket on fire, which caused smoke to seep throughout the entire emergency room. Hospital security held Hawke down until police could arrive, and he allegedly kicked an officer during the arrest. Hawke will be in court Thursday morning. The 47-year-old homeless man is expected to be charged with arson, disorderly conduct and battery of an officer.
