Body found in Chippewa River is that of missing Eau Claire man

Dunn Co. (Press Release) -- On May 12, 2012 at 5:52 p.m. the Dunn County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a person in the water in an area of the Chippewa River near 750th St, in the Town of Peru. The body of an adult male was recovered.

On May 13, 2012 an autopsy was performed on the body at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. Results from the autopsy, the investigation completed by the Eau Claire County Medical Examiner's Office, the Dunn County Sheriff's Office, and the Eau Claire Police Department has determined the following:

The body was identified as:
PAUL C. TRIMMER
52 years old
Eau Claire resident
The Manner of Death is suicide.
The Cause of Death is freshwater drowning.

The Eau Claire Police Department began a missing person investigation in an attempt to locate Paul Trimmer on March 24, 2012. On this date members of the Eau Claire Police Department and the Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a report that someone had fallen into the river from the railroad trestle bridge that connects 2400 First St to 900 Forest St. The witness saw this person fall from the center of this bridge and no one else was on the bridge. Eau Claire Police Officers located personal property belonging Trimmer on this portion of the bridge.

On March 24, 2012, a few minutes later, the Eau Claire Police Department received an additional report from an acquaintance of Trimmer. The acquaintance reported that Trimmer had just called, stated he was distraught, and stated he was going to jump from a bridge.

Trimmer did not have any injuries. The autopsy results and Eau Claire County Medical Examiner's report noted no suspicious factors related to his death. The Eau Claire Police Department investigation determined there were no suspicious circumstances related to Trimmer's death.
