La Crosse, WI (WXOW)-- Today is Peace Officers Memorial Day. Flags are flying at half-staff to remember officers killed in the line of duty.
In the US, every 50 hours an officer dies while on the job. In Wisconsin two police officers lost their lives this year.
At a service today outside City Hall, Wisconsin Attorney General J. B. Van Hollen spoke.
"We should never forget. It shouldn't just be at a memorial service at the death of a law enforcement officer, it should be every day of our lives that we remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms and our liberties," Van Hollen said.
