LA CROSSE, WI (WXOW)—Warmer, dryer weather in April and May, even just a few degrees, caused some people to get cabin fever sooner this year.
"We've seen a lot of seasonal coming around before March asking if we were going to open early or on time. We just kept telling them April first and they showed up right around April 1st," Zeb Allert, Pettibone Campground Manager said.
He said they're seeing about 35-percent more business now, compared to this time last year.
"Holidays are definitely packed up for the summer and mainly weekends, Friday and Saturday nights, we're full," Allert said.
For the last ten years Zeke Bideaux and his wife have staked their claim on one of those RV spots.
"We always get a breeze right through the channel and we're half sun, half shade," Bideaux said.
They rent an RV site for the entire season and this year they're getting a little more stay for their pay.
"Last year it flooded until mid May so we couldn't come until about this time last year," Bideaux said.
He said they come to La Crosse from Cedar Rapids because it has something their hometown doesn't.
"The people. Everywhere you go everyone is so friendly, so nice I love the people in this area. It really makes it pleasurable," Bideaux said.
Zeke said everyone is so helpful and he hasn't met a grumpy person yet.
