Tyler VanbuskirkEau Claire (WQOW) - Sentencing Tuesday for a Rice Lake man convicted of stealing thousands of dollars from his grandfather.
Investigators say Tyler Vanbuskirk stole $25,000 from his grandfather's home in Stone Lake. Vanbuskirk had been living in the home while the elderly man was in a nursing home.
A witness told detectives that Vanbuskirk was aware that the 79-year-old man did not like to keep his money in a bank. A Washburn County court ordered Vanbuskirk to repay the money. He was sentenced to the five months he has already spent in jail awaiting resolution of the case. He will be on probation for three years.
