
LA CROSSE,WI(WXOW)--More than 100 Central High School students, teachers, and parents gathered in front of the school for the 90th Annual Memorial Day Observance on Friday morning.
Many spoke about remembering those lost while serving our nation. The high school choir sang songs of the United States Armed Forces.
Ben Wiese is a Junior at Central, as well as a member of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets. He had the opportunity to be a part of the color guard, and was responsible for the raising of the flag at the ceremony.
"It's a heavy responsibility to make sure you're doing it right and respectfully, there is rules for carrying the flag and holding it," said Wiese.
Veterans at the Memorial Day observance enjoyed a lunch and refreshments following the ceremony.
The students at Central High School went to class in silence after the ceremony in honor of the veterans who've served the United States of America.
