EAU CLAIRE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The Sparta Millers amateur baseball team headed north in early season action against the Eau Claire Cavaliers.
Game one would go into extra innings tied 4-4. The Cavs threatened to go on top in the bottom of the 9th inning when Brett Vavra beat-out an infield hit, but Matt Miller was called out at home after colliding with Millers' catcher Nick Barnes.
In the top of the 10th, Mike Flaig shot a base hit to right with two runners on, scoring a run after the throw home got away from the Cavs' catcher. That would put Sparta on top 5-4, and that would be all they needed. The Millers went on to take game two 11-0.
