La Crosse, WI (WXOW)-- Scott Walker is only the third governor in the country to face a recall and the first to come out on top and win the right to finish his term.

Local Republicans celebrated his victory last night down at the Days Inn on French Island. Juilan Bradley, the chair of the La Crosse County Republicans says it's time to unite the state.

Bradley says even though Walker won there are lessons to be learned from this recall process.

"Governor Walker has been reaffirmed as Governor of the state of Wisconsin. As is Lieutenant Governor Kleefisch," Bradley said. "So moving forward, he's got a mandate. What this means is the people of Wisconsin know the reforms are working. He himself said that he needed to do a better job of making sure people understood what was happening, instead of just enacting them and moving them through the legislature. So, I think that's a lesson learned from this."

Bradley says it's time to move past the recall process and work together.

"I think we have to be very gracious in our victory," Bradley said. "The silent majority spoke today. We said we would in this recall process, we said we'd speak at the ballot box and we did. Now in order to move forward, that means talking to our friends on the other side of the aisle again."
