La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) Central softball's bid to make it to State for the first time since 2002 fell short Thursday with a 4-3 loss at Sun Prairie.
The Red Raiders trailed 3-2 in the top of the 7th when Brooke Baldwin brought home the tying run with a squeeze bunt.
But Sun Prairie won it in the bottom of the 7th when Kristin Hoppman's double scored Briana Peterson with the winning run.
In division 3, Arcadia was shutout by Poynette 8-0 in a battle of the top two ranked teams in division three.
Kirsten Tomlinson tossed a one-hitter for Poynette.
In division 4, De Soto beat Cashton 7-0, avenging a loss to the Eagles from the regular season.
Cassie Roach tossed the complete game shutout, giving up just one hit and striking out 4.
Cashton returns to the State Tournament for the first time since 2007.
