La Crosse, WISCONSIN (WXOW) Ask any coach of a winter sport they'll tell you the work you do during the summer has a big impact on what happens during the season.
Some area boys basketball teams are finding that out.
Viterbo University is hosting the Wisconsin basketball yearbook summer tournament.
It features 16 teams, including some our area's top teams, Onalaska, G-E-T, Aquinas and Central to name a few.
It's also a showcase for some top state talent.
Matt Thomas, Bronson Koenig and Tim Wagner are just a few of the local star players participating.
"It's an opportunity to find that hidden player that goes to a smaller school or maybe from up north that people don't know about. You can see kids go up against each other like Onalaska and Aquinas and Central and those type of teams. So, The exposure from these games is really good. Our web site is very popular with college coaches. They go on there to see who's playing well, what kids are standing out," said Mark Miller from the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook.
The championship game is Sunday at 2pm at Viterbo's Beggs Gymnasium.
