Undated (WXOW) - Sunday, of course, is Father's day and it's a day we shower dad with presents for all he does.
There's now medical evidence that we have more to be grateful for.
A study in the "Journal of Early Adolescence" followed 325 families. Looking at eleven- to fourteen-year-olds in two-parent homes.
They found that the children learned the persistence needed for success from authoritative fathers. Those who passed down warmth and love, stressed accountability and the reasons for enforcing rules and granted children just enough autonomy.
In the study, the children of such fathers were significantly more likely to do better in school and to have lower levels of delinquency.
One more reason to say: thank you on Father's day.
