La Crosse, WI (WXOW)-- La Crosse Mayor Matt Harter and Onalaska Mayor Joe Chilsen faced-off in a milking contest.
It took place after tonight's Loggers game down at Copeland Park. The mayors had two minutes to milk a cow. Mayor Harter admitted he'd practiced a little bit, while Mayor Chilsen said he was a milking rookie.
It was close but the Onalaska mayor came out on top. The contest is an effort to promote the Wisconsin dairy industry.
"It's a vital part of our economy here in Wisconsin, and anything I can do to help promote this, and I know Matt feels the same way, anything we can do is just a great effort," said Mayor Chilsen.
"Congratulations to Mayor Chilsen for carrying out the win tonight," said Mayor Harter. :And overall, it's a good event. Good event to help raise awareness about the dairy industry here in the Coulee Region."
As the winner Mayor Chilsen gets an all-expense paid trip to Liberty Pole, Wisconsin and a farm tour. Mayor Harter has to pay his own way and attend a one-hour milking seminar at the farm.
