BAY OF PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (WXOW) – A group of Wisconsinites who survived the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor are currently back in Hawaii touring the monuments built in their honor.
World War II ended on September 2, 1945 when the Japanese signed "the instrument of surrender" aboard the USS Missouri.
Saturday night, the veterans boarded that vessel themselves and had dinner on what's known as "the surrender deck."
They also received a surprise.
News 19 photographer Nick Bjerke was there for "mail call."
