Lori Laxton - June Jefferson Award Winner

Posted:

La Crosse, WI (WXOW)  Once she realized she was not the focus, Lori Laxton's life began to change.

Laxton is the June recipient of the Jefferson Award.  The award is presented to people who contribute to the community through community service and who inspire others to do the same.

Lori's volunteerism grew from a drug addiction.  Part of the recovery involved giving back to the community.  The TLC Center is the result of that experience.

TLC stands for tender, loving care.  Lori says everyone is welcome to use the Center which provides furniture, clothing and other supplies at a low cost.  The Center also contains a food pantry.  All of the supplies are donated.

Along with a focus on people who need help, Laxton also encourages volunteerism.  She says, volunteering changed her life.
