MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The chief group working to defeat a constitutional gay marriage ban on the November ballot in Minnesota raised $3.1 million so far in 2012.

Minnesotans United for All Families released its January to mid-June totals on Tuesday. Since the group formed last year, it raised a total of $4.6 million from 19,000 individual donors. So far the group has spent just under $3 million.

Minnesotans United is pushing a no vote on the constitutional amendment, which would put an existing gay marriage ban into the state constitution.

Campaign manager Richard Carlbom says the impressive fundraising total shows that more Minnesotans are committed to defeating the amendment.

A spokesman said the leading pro-amendment group, Minnesota for Marriage, also plans to release its fundraising totals Tuesday.
