Bassmaster Tournament brings business to local store

La Crosse, WI (WXOW)-- The Bassmaster Tournament is going to give a boost to one local company. Northern Battery in La Crosse is a sponsor of the event.

The store owner says about one-third of their business is marine batteries, so working with the Bassmaster Tournament was a natural fit.

The company will have a tent set up at the event and hopes that those in town for the tournament, and those coming just to watch, will boost business.

"What's really exciting, is this tournament is like a NASCAR weekend or a US Open weekend," said Kirk Donskey, the owner of Northern Batter. "You're talking about a $100,000 purse. The biggest names in fishing are going to be here and so the promotion that's going to come for this, I think, could be quite immense."

Donskey says the name recognition that comes with being a sponsor will boost business among local fisherman after the tournament ends.
