
WINONA, Minn. (KTTC) -- A group of Winona High School lacrosse players is asking the school board to start a team.
Thursday night, the Winona Area Public School Board will discuss whether their informal lacrosse team will be recognized as a club sport at Winona Senior High School.
Lacrosse is gaining popularity in high schools across the nation.
Since 1998 there are five times as many players taking part in the sport.
The board's decision will affect both Winona High School and Winona Cotter students.
