La Crosse, WI (WXOW) A local Red Cross volunteer is on her way to Duluth.
Kathy Rice says this is her first time leaving Wisconsin to provide disaster assistance. She's always wanted to spend more time helping those who need it. Now that she's retired, she can.
Rice says her job is assessment - evaluating the extent of the damage and reporting what she finds. She says, she has an idea of what to expect but she's preparing. Rice says when you meet those affected and see the damage it helps to come with some background.
Rice is scheduled to spend two weeks in Duluth.
