LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- June 25 marks the 62nd anniversary of the start of the Korean War.
To honor the thousands of soldiers who lost their lives, the American Legion Post 52 Honor Guard and VFW Rifle Squad conducted a ceremony at Catholic Cemetery in La Crosse.
The ceremony included laying a wreath on the grave of Private First Class David Kampa.
Kampa was the first La Crosse citizen to die in the war.
Along with the 37,000 Americans, more than one million Koreans died during that war.
