Caledonia dedicates remodeled baseball field

Posted:

CALEDONIA, Minnesota (WXOW) - After a year of work, the city of Caledonia officially dedicated its revamped Veterans Memorial Field.

The project was funded in part by a $5,000 dollar grant from the "Minnesota Twins Fields for Kids" program.

Renovations included fresh paint on the dugouts, new lights and a sound system.

Caledonia Mayor Bob Burns said the remodeled park will benefit local children.

"It's a great opportunity for the kids to play ball, to learn the sport, to learn to play together, and to make friends all over the area," he said.

After the dedication, fans enjoyed a game between the current Caledonia Legion team and an alumni team.

Also included an appearance by baseball Hall of Famer Dolly Vanderlip.
