Humane Society losing Executive Director

LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The Coulee Region Humane Society is losing its current Executive Director.

Heather Schmid says she's moving to the other side of the state to be a center executive of one of Milwaukee's YMCA.

In looking back, Schmid says the organization has accomplished a lot during her tenure including an increase in adoption rates, dog training, and pet licensing. "You have a very valuable resource in this community," she said. "When it comes to advocating for animals, and education, there are so many homeless animals that need you, whether it be here or another organization."

Schmid says while she will miss the area, she trusts the CRHS will continue to be successful.

She's planning on leaving in Mid-July.
