La Crosse, WI (WXOW)-- Representative Jill Billings is headed to the Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development.
Billings was chosen by a non-partisan selection committee. She'll join lawmakers from across the Midwest and Canada for the development seminars. In her application, Billings says she wrote about her bi-partisan efforts to pass the scenic byway bill.
Billings is the only female and the only democratic representative selected from Wisconsin.
"We'll learn about messaging and issues and how to work with both sides in a non-partisan way," Billings said. "I'll be able to get lessons on getting my message across and being an effective communicator with the people that I represent and the people in the assembly."
The leadership institute takes place in August. Past attendees include Senator Jennifer Shilling.
