STODDARD, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A burning ban is in place in part of Vernon County due to the extreme dry weather.

Stoddard-Bergen Fire Chief Joe Pfaff says that effective immediately, burning any combustible materials outdoors is not allowed.  The ban is in place until the weather improves.

The reason for the ban is due to the Forestry Department of the DNR sets the fire danger level to either Very High or Extreme.

Pfaff says this applies to burn piles and burn barrels; all campfires unless in developed camping areas disposing any matches, ashes, charcoal briquettes, or any burning materials into the outdoors; and all fireworks.

Outdoor grilling is allowed as long as the grill is on concrete or other type of non-combustible surface.
