LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) -- Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse has received a couple of heat-related cases since the area's heat wave began July 2.
To avoid a trip to the clinic yourself, consider the following tips:
--If you're working or playing outside, take a break every 15 to 20 minutes of activity.
--Drink water frequently and seek shade.
--Watch out for dizziness, rapid heart rate, fatigue, and dry mouth. If you feel or witness any of those symptoms, seek water and shade immediately.
--The Salvation Army and the Hmong Mutual Assistance Association will have cooling centers open. Both places provide an air conditioned area, cool water and a place to relax. The centers are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
