Salvation Army overnight cooling center moved

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) - The cooling unit at the Salvation Army quit working and the overnight cooling center has been moved to the Campus Ministry.

The Ministry will be available for those looking to get a break in the heat from 7pm to 7am tonight.

 Residents are asked to call 2-1-1 for further information.

A cool place and cots are provided. You are expected to bring bedding and personal medications. No Pets are allowed and all visitors will be screened with a breathalyzer test.  

No world yet on when the Salvation Army cooling center will reopen.

La Crosse, WI (WXOW)- If you need a break from the heat, the Salvation Army is providing a cooling center during the day and at night.

For those wishing to stay overnight, cots will be provided but you need to bring bedding and other personal items.

No pets are allowed and visitors will be screened with a breathalyzer test.

Since the heat wave is expected to last until the end of the week, the Salvation Army is asking for donations.

Salvation Army Development Director Julie Nelson says they are in need of drinking cups and could use cold items such as; pop sickles, ice-cream bars and freezes.

Another cooling center is open at the Hmong Mutual Assistance Association's on Ward Avenue.

That center is open from 10am to 5pm.
