MONDOVI, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The Buffalo County Sheriff's Department is still sorting out possible criminal charges against two individuals involved in two vehicle accidents within two hours early Thursday morning.

Sheriff Michael Schmidtknecht says that Michael Burda, 17, of Durand, and Dylan Grossell, 20, of Mondovi, were involved in a one car crash around 4am in Pepin County.

Shortly after 5am, the two were headed back to the original accident scene to get the vehicle when the truck Burda was driving drifted off the road, skidded, eventually crossing Bauer Road, and rolling over on the southbound shoulder.

The Sheriff's Department reports Burda was trapped in the truck and had to be extricated by Mondovi firefighters.  He was flown to an Eau Claire hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Grossell was able to get out of the truck after the crash.  He was taken to an Eau Claire hospital for multiple injuries.

The crash also sheared a power pole off leaving powerlines around the scene.

The Sheriff's Department says based on statements and evidence at the scene, alcohol was believed to be a factor in the accident.
