LA CROSSE, Wisc. (WXOW) - Members of the Friedberg Germany Sister City Delegation provided gifts for some local students July 6.
North Woods International School third-graders received lunch boxes from the visitors, along with postcards and drawings from German elementary school students.
North Woods principal Sandy Brauer says the third grade class studies Germany, and she says it's relationships such as these help students learn more about foreign cultures.
"Getting to know these people from Germany and the students in the school in Friedberg is just a really important connection," Brauer said. "Because when it comes down to it, it's really about relationships. Relationships are how we make connections with other cultures and other countries."
The mayor of Friedberg will spend some time at a special sister city booth at Riverfest.
The delegation leaves La Crosse July 8.
