LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) - The Loggers may have started the 2nd half of the season at 1-2, but they did the same in the first half. They also won 25 out of 32 after that and became first half champions.
The would look to avoid losing three straight Sunday night at the Lumberyard. La Crosse beat Battle Creek in their previous five meetings.
After the Bombers jumped out to a 1-0 lead, the Loggers responded when Kevin Kramer grounded into the 4-3 putout with runners on 2nd and 3rd. The sacrifice tied the game at one.
Battle Creek got the run back in the top of the third. Daniel Rockett blasted a fly ball to left with a runner on third. Joe Meggs made the grab, but it was deep enough for the runner to tag and score putting the Bombers back on top.
La Crosse couldn't get anything going the rest of the game and committed four errors, while Battle Creek added four more runs to win 6-1. The loss marked the Loggers longest losing streak of the season and dropped them to 1-3 in the standings.
