Thomson, MN (WXOW) - A community hit hard by floods in June is at risk of not getting federal aid.
The city of Thomson was evacuated when flood waters rushed into town. With an estimated one million dollars in damage to public infrastructure, the city was hoping to get federal assistance. However; Friday night an outside party informed Thomson that they were not on the list of communities to receive federal help.
City Clerk Ruth Jorgenson said, "I can't even describe my stomach just dropped I mean I was in a panic I know I filed a couple years prior so I thought this is just a mistake we'll get it fixed somewhere"
Officials let Thomson know about the mix-up late Monday night, telling them they can still get aid as long as they pass a resolution asking for the help within 60 days.
